Lower back pain and myelopathy

5” 11” 290 lb adult male presents with severe lower back and rt posterior leg pain. Electrical pain started in the back after he tripped. Pain increased in intensity and went down his rt leg within a few hours. Unable to stand up straight or do much of anything.

Disc bulge and vertebral subluxation complex with resultant pressure on the spinal cord (myelopathy) and pinched nerve (rt lumbar radiculopathy) resulting in back pain, rt leg pain and weakness in the legs.


Treatment included adjustments to the spine, flexion distraction (traction) in the lower back, active release to the lower back and pelvis, muscle stimulation and ice.


After 2 visits patient was able to stand and move with minimal pain. After 2 weeks pain was 75% reduced. Pt was able to start body wt exercise and stretch. Within 1 month of treatment pain was 90% resolved and Pt had no limitations at work or home. 2 Months after start of care Pt is pain free.


Home care includes daily core exercise and weight loss.
